Nintendo Direct Thoughts and Opinions

Dragon Quest 1+2 HD Remake

I thought we already had remakes of these games. Dragon Quest is a turn based RPG published by Square and has been around almost as long as Final Fantasy. The story is often good and I suppose if you never played either of these games then they are worth getting.

Next was an announcement for the upcoming Switch 2 Nintendo Direct for April 2. So we are likely going to get the launch titles and more information on the new system when that happens.

No Sleep For Kaname Date- From AI The Somnium Files

I never played AI The Somnium Files because I was not that interested in it. Now the sequel is releasing and seems interesting. So if you’re a fan of this game it is worth looking at and I don’t think you need to play the original to enjoy this. sequel either.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of The Soulless Army

No idea what this game even is according to Wikipedia Raidou is part of the Demon Summoner games originally released on Playstation and Sega Saturn by Atlas. It is a spin off series from Shin Magami Tensai a game I actually know about. It seems to have similar gameplay befriend monsters in battle and use them to solve puzzles.

Shadow Labyrinth

A odd game where someone looked at Pac Man and said lets make a horror game out of this. It seems to be a Metroidvaina style game where you team up with Puck to solve puzzles and fight difficult enemies. It is at least an interesting game.

Patapon and Patapon 2 Replay

A collection of rhythm games where you play as the Patapon Army drumming and commanding to the beat of the music. Honestly, I found the game sounding more annoying than anything and I like games like Rhythm Haven.

Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar

Another remake game this time for Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar. Not a bad Harvest Moon game, but a more fogettable one given at the same time we had Sunshine Islands and Tale of Two Towns. It does look good and if you love Story of Seasons it may be worth it.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond

Metroids Prime series continues I am not surprised to see this here we have known about an upcoming Metroid game for awhile. A sci-fi shooter with puzzle elements. It is nice to see an update and release information coming out later this year.

Disney Villains Cursed Cafe

A game focusing on the villains of the Disney movies and showing them in a different way. As well as upgrading the ingredients. It seems after Dreamlight Valley Disney has wanted to do more in the Cozy Games genre. I do think they should release a more traditional game soon, but it is also a simple cafe simulator.

Witchbrook

Another Cozy Game it seems at least it isn’t a sequel or a remake. The game doesn’t look bad, but something about it failed to land with me. I like game like Story of Seasons however there are already a ton of these games and the lack of sufficient gameplay makes me wonder what this game is. Also copying Stardew’s art style is already a red flag.

After we got three games in rapid succession, The Eternal Life of Goldman a platformer without a lot of information, Gradius Origins, a celebratory 25th anniversary game showing early space shooter gameplay, and finally Rift of The Necrodancer a Rhythm game and spinoff of Crypt of the Necrodancer with what appears as similar gameplay to Guitar Hero or Rockband.

Tamagotchi Plaza

I honestly thought this series was dead. Tamagotchi was this little plastic keychain pet game. Here it seems the pet simulator stuff has been removed and you play as a Tamagotchi doing various tasks and upgrading the store.

Pokemon Legends ZA

Pokemon already had an update to this game back in February for Pokemon Day and I gave my thoughts about it then so I won’t repeat myself and we can just move on.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

A new entry in the Rhythm Heaven games that have been gone for a long time. These games are ranging from easy relaxing experiences to the most stressful gaming simply because timing and rhythm mean everything. I hope that they can bring the franchise back and still respect the original developers.

Next was a rapid fire of games and releases as well as an update to Nintendo Switch intended to make digital purchases more organized and grant the ability to lend them to people. After the Direct was not as interesting to me. As well as a remaster of Saga Frontier 2 with new things added and bonus boss fights. A Monumental Valley 1 and 2 remake with all DLC along with a third game announced. A new Everybody’s Golf series, but I was not a fan of this its just a golf game. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a beat em up staring Marvel characters. And finally a new Tomadachi Life game that seems similar to the 3DS game. As well as a new app for Nintendo users to get news and updates.
