Raidou is a remaster of the first game in the Devil Summoner series a spin off of Shin megami Tensei. The game is very different from Atlus’ Persona or Shinmigami Tensei series as all battles are handled in real time over turns. First combat the player has access to magic abilites you actually don’t have much control over the monsters they battle on their own with move sets learned over time and you can switch out which moves are used. The player has a sword, gun, and magic and attacking enough can cause enemies to stun. After battle both the monsters and player can level up and get stronger. Also depending on loyalty monsters can attack during a fight even if they aren’t involved. Actually obtaining a monster has a familiar sort of system to Shin Migami Tensei when you weaken a monster you can try to capture them and after a few seconds they may ask a question and if you answer correctly they join your party. There is an exception if you have a lower level than the monster you can’t get them.
Fusion is the ability to take two of your monsters and create a stronger monster. They retain moves and can have a higher level it is actually closer to evolution in other games and due to the rank up system in this game is a way to keep your number of monsters down given you have limited slots for them until you are higher in rank. You also can’t fuse two monsters into something higher level than you.
As for plot I’m still early in the game so won’t say anything about it till later or a full review of this game. What I have played so far has been enjoyable and the story so far fits with this series.
