So I would say these are allegations and that this is Fair Use in America, but it really isn’t allegations if the CEO has admitted it. Ai usage isn’t the worst thing on the planet until it starts affecting art and peoples jobs. If they were just using it to promote their games that would still be bad, but not unacceptable. Most game trailers are smoke and mirrors anyway. AI has been terrible for this industry games feel like they are just soulless and coded by a computer. As for the allegations they stem from the remake of Yo-kai Watch 2 (questioning where a remake for the first game is understandable given the circumstances). I do wonder how this remake will even work if you don’t know there are three versions of Yokai Watch 2, Bony Spirits, Fleshy Souls, and Pyschic Spectres.

Level 5 says it has taken elements from each game for a more complete package despite Psychic Spectres already having claimed that this is similar to how Pokemon has done things prior to Gen 5 having 2 versions then a difinitive version with bug fixes and other changes. Yo Kai Watch is a series that everyone thought was dead, honestly, this series came out of nowhere on the DS-3DS made a huge splash, then collectively was forgotten about while it released three games in a series (5 if you consider the 3 versions of the same game) past that a few mobile releases and a 4th game only in Japan.

Now the allegations come from the remakes announcement trailers. They used Ai to create the trailers then tried to cover up some of the mistakes. They also seem to be using Ai to create some parts of their games. The CEO seems to admit this one too by saying he wants AI to create models from 2D images to 3D and says he wants games to take 2 years to make rather than the usual 5 years. I’d rather a game with interesting locations and characters made by people rather than everything created by a computer.
